Types of advertising

Banners

A banner is a rectangular image, 468 X 60 pixels. The banner can be made with moving images or it can be a single image. It can link to a website or an e-mail address.

Choice of banners

The placement of a banner on a specific page can strengthen your online campaign. There are two types of banners:

The top banner appears in the most prominent top right position on the site. This banner will be seen regardless of the specific area which the user chooses to browse. The size of this banner is 468 X 60 pixels.

Navigation area banners cater to the different interests of our site users and allow marketers to better target their audiences by placing banners in specific navigation areas of the site, at the bottom right of each navigation area. The size of an navigation area banner is 408 X 54 pixels. The navigation areas where banners are available are:
  • The Front Page which contains local, international and sports news, as well as weather.
  • Business which contains international and local news, as well as indicators which are updated twice every hour.
  • Lifestyle which contains lifestyle news and features, as well as elements for families and children.
  • Search where users can access major search resources such as Google, Wikipedia, Bing and C-Net Downloads without leaving the site.
Banner rotation

In order to reduce the cost of advertising, a number of banners may appear in the same position, and will be rotated each time the page is opened or refreshed.
  • The top banner position is shared by a maximum of three banners.
  • Navigation area banner positions are shared by a maximum of four banners.
  • If an exclusive position is desired, such as the current banner in the body of the 'Business' navigation area, contact AfricaOnline to discuss the opportunity. Exclusive banners are typically booked for longer term placement.
Buttons

Buttons are found on the left shoulder of AfricaOnline, on the left side of the page near the content, and appear regardless of which navigation area is selected. Buttons are also served like banners. The lower button is reserved exclusively for AfricaOnline's products and social responsibility. The size of a button is 140 X 80 pixels.

Button rotation
